Meet the hosts
Jen Gurecki founded Zawadisha in 2013 after spending years in the rural communities of Kenya learning about the challenges faced due to lack of access to funding, support and education. Jen decided that she would start a micro-lending organisation to help communities help themselves. Several attempts later she formed Zawadisha and is now helping benefit the wider community of Maunga through training, support and access to clean water, solar lighting and sustainable food production.
Through their financial distribution program they have helped hundreds of Kenyan women lead happier, healthier and more confident lifestyles that benefit the whole community. The women of Maungu no longer have to walk for hours to fetch water, stop working at dusk due to lack of light or be reliant on other members of the family due to lack of employment opportunities.
