If you’re a sports enthusiast and are looking for an active trip to the Maldives you can help make a lasting positive impact to local Maldivians through the Travel Teacher sports education program. Experience the tropical islands of the Maldives whilst inspiring social change in small communities with team building and encouraging active lifestyles working alongside professionals. During your stay you will have the opportunity to experience the hidden side to the islands that many tourists don’t get to see and have the chance to explore uninhabited islands and marine life. Each team will be accompanied by a programme leader and a local Maldivian guide who will ensure that your trip is fun, authentic and provides you with a excellent insight into local life.
A Typical Day
After breakfast at your accommodation you will work alongside professionals and the Travel Teacher Team to supervise and participate in sporting events to encourage active lifestyles, this could be organising a tournament, having a kickabout with local young people or helping develop skills. There’ll always be a skilled professional on hand to help you deliver sporting sessions safely and in a way that supports the community you are working with. Your working day will finish at midday leaving you with the rest of the day to get out there and participate in one of the many excursions and activities on offer before returning your volunteer accommodation with your teammates and enjoying evening barbeques.

About The Area
The Maldives are a collection of islands in the Indian Ocean, famed for their pristine beaches, clear blue seas and incredible marine life the Maldives is a picture perfect paradise.
Working half days means you’ll have plenty of time to explore the islands aand with a range of activities and excursions included in your stay you’ll have plenty to see, do and experience during your stay. Here are just a few highlights for your adventure:
Go snorkelling and discover an underwater world of tropical fish, manta rays, reef sharks, turtles or even dolphins if you are lucky.
Experience night fishing with the local community, starting with a sunset boat trip and finishing under the starry skies
Cook your own catch at the night beach barbeques
Get dropped off at one of the uninhabited islands for a day of pure relaxation
Head out of some of the cultural visit tours included in your placement.

Travel Teacher was founded Matt Ray whose unrelenting curiosity has taken him to some of the farthest corners of the world. Driven by a passion to inspire others to step outside their comfort zone Matt set up Travel Teacher in 2015.
Travel Teacher exists to help provide opportunities for people to travel and explore the world whilst making a sustainable impact through cultural immersion, education and positive travel experiences. By volunteering and travelling with Travel Teacher you will be directly contributing to help provide access to education and cultural exchange in remote areas of the world.
How To Get There
Travel Teacher provide airport transfers included with your placement. Upon landing in Male you will be met by one of the team and transported to your placement location.
