Travel Teacher Fiji Expedition
FijiAbout
If you want to make a positive impact and experience the true culture of Fiji whilst exploring one of the most beautiful and diverse archipelagos in the world Travel Teacher offers the perfect opportunity for a holiday of a lifetime. This cultural immersion programme offers a deep insight into another culture, its languages, food, beliefs, traditions and community - it is very different from the non-stop, tick-box type of travel, in fact it's not about travelling it's about staying and actively participating into the community.
With the homestay accommodation you will be given a unique insight into Fijian life and with a range of activities and excursions so every day promises to be immersive, meaningful and action packed with adventure and travel experiences. During your expedition you will join a group of like-minded travellers as you stay with a host family giving you a unique glimpse into Fijian daily life and enabling you to rapidly integrate into the local community and engage meaningfullly with the people who call it home.
From the moment you arrive in the Fijian village of Namatakula you will be accepted into the community with a welcoming ceremony where you will be presented with garlands and have the opportunity to drink some of the traditional local Kava followed by singing and dancing with the locals.
Travel Teacher will let you dip your toe into Fijian life and keep going until you're out of your depth with an eclectic blend of experiences to help you piece together what it means to be a local, rather than simply viewing it from a comfortable distance.
This programme is for enthusiastic individuals who want to discover the real Fiji, are positive, open-minded and eager to explore.

Fiji lies in the South Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and Hawaii and is the perfect destination if you’re looking for deserted islands, beautiful tropical beaches with vibrant coral reefs and awe-inspiring waterfalls surrounded by rainforest.
You will be based in the village of Namatakula which has around 600 inhabitants on the main island of Viti Levu.
Working half days means you’ll have plenty of time to explore Fiji and the surrounding islands and with a range of activities and excursions included in your stay you’ll have plenty to see, do and experience during your stay. Here are just a few highlights for your Fijian adventure:
Go trekking through the jungle and cool off with an exhilarating shower at Biausevu waterfall
Explore underwater worlds and coral reefs with snorkelling and boat trips
Visit Kula Eco Park and see some of Fiji’s rarest and most endangered wildlife
Take a healing mud bath at the Sabeto Hot Water Springs
Spend a day at Beachcomber Island, a real deserted paradise offering crystal clear waters and soft sandy beaches. What better place is there to relax on your day off?
