Volunteering Opportunities
Running an organic vegetable garden, building cabins and welcoming guests means there’s always lots to do at Sunnylea. Rachel and Mike would welcome any extra pairs of hands to help clear overgrown areas, plant seeds and help out with general gardening tasks. The tasks you will be given will depend on the season and needs of the gardens.
Volunteers can work for as little as 7 hours helping out on the grounds, working 4 hours during any week day. There’s no requirements or cost to volunteer - just a helpful and positive attitude! If you want to help with maintaining the vegetable gardens please let Rachel know in the special requests section of your booking enquiry form and she will be most grateful for your help!

Meet the hosts
Rachel and Mike have lived at Sunnylea for over 20 years. They love the home they have built together over the years and the beautiful views. Initially they used the Sleepout to host friends but now they want everyone to share their beautiful cabins and the gorgeous views with them.
Mike works as a tree surgeon and has lovingly handcrafted both of the cabins using unusual pieces of wood from his tree surgery. As well as being a tree surgeon, wood crafter and cabin builder Mike is also a qualified mountain leader, helps out with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and leads regular walks.
Rachel is a keen gardener/botanist and grows all her own veg. When she’s not getting her hands dirty in the organic gardens she carries out Biological Recording for 2020 Flora of Britain and helps out with the Severn Rivers Trust.
