About The Area
Based in Zimbabwe’s Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve the lodge sits atop a sandstone ridge with expansive views across the shimmering Malilangwe Dam. Set within 130,000 acres of wilderness the reserve is home to Zimbabwe’s largest black and white rhino populations as well as big cats, hyena, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest to name but a few. The Malilangwe Dam is a perfect place to spot yet more wildlife with large numbers of hippos and crocodiles, during the summer months breeding elephant herds bathe in the dams waters.
As well as an abundance of wildlife this area also has an ancient tribal history and a vast, rugged landscape of sandstone hills, rivers and riverine forests, each corner of the reserves gives an entirely different and unique experience. Over 80 ancient rock painting sites have been discovered within the sandstone hills which date back to the San Bushmen and Khoi San herders known to inhabit the area from 700 - 2000 years ago.
The rich tribal history of the region is the inspiration for the design of Singita Pamushana Lodge, drawing on the proud heritage of ancient Zimbabwe. Perched atop a sandstone ridge overlooking the shimmering expanse of the Malilangwe Dam, the lodge is a celebration of its incredible wilderness setting.
There’s plenty to do and see included in your stay with daily game drives, birdwatching and even a tennis court on the premises. Below are just a few suggestions of daily activities available with Pamushana Lodge:
