Overview
Set on the Sand River in Singita’s privately owned Sabi Sand Reserve the Ebony Lodge offers a fresh and contemporary interpretation of safari accommodation, combining tented camp and bush lodge style. The polished ebony and mahogany woods and natural fibres used throughout the lodge together with the canvas and glass walls maximise the expansive views allowing you to be fully immersed in nature whilst providing a unique ambience to your stay.
Each suite features private plunge pools and are decorated with interesting collections of antiques and artefacts, as well as vintage campaign furniture from the Bailes’ family collection. Outdoor pavillion decks, ideal for relaxing and dining are suspended over the bank giving you a sense of floating above the river and spectacular panoramic views across the reserve.

About The Area
Based in the north east of South Africa, close to the border of Mozambique, Ebony Lodge is located in Singita’s privately owned Sabi Sand Reserve along the banks of the Sand River. The reserve is home to a wide range of African animals from elephants, leopards, lions and cheetahs to a diverse variety birdlife and smaller predators.
There’s plenty to do and see included in your stay with daily game drives, walking safaris and birdwatching. Below are just a few suggestions of daily activities available with Ebony Lodge:

Meet the hosts
Founded by Luke Bailes, Singita have been preserving African wilderness for over 25 years across six regions. Singita proudly operate 13 lodges and camps, each with their own unique experience and landscapes to provide guests with a life changing safari experience that will transform their outlook as well as leaving a long lasting positive impact on the community and conservation of the natural area.
How To Get There
Due to the remote area Ebony Lodge can arrange your journey with scheduled flights or private charters to the lodge.
Air: Direct flights are available from Johannesburg (1hr) or Nelspruit (30mins) airports to the Singita Airstrip, which is approximately a 10 minute drive from the lodge, where a member of Singita staff will be waiting to take you to the lodge by safari jeep. Please note that due to the small aircraft luggage weight restrictions of 20kg apply
Drive: It is possible to drive to the lodge from Johannesburg (6-7hr drive) or Hazyview (1hr drive). Driving directions can be provided by the lodge with your booking confirmation.
