Overview
On the edge of the beautiful and awe inspiring Kanha National Park, the location that inspired Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, you will find this low impact lodge tastefully nestled within the trees. The Kanha Jungle Lodge offers comfortable rooms or deluxe cottages with private balconies backing onto the jungle giving you the chance to spot some wildlife and enjoy the sounds of birdsong or possibly even a distant tiger’s roar from the comfort of your daybed! Each en-suite room has been fully furnished with large beds, seating areas and writing desks.
With the resident naturalist on hand to help you get more out of your jungle walks and birdwatching and complimentary bike hire you’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore the area and learn more about the wildlife and plantlife. Cultural and educational activities including solar cooking methods, visits to the local village and astronomy lessons are also included within your stay so your holiday promises to be packed full of new experiences, adventure and memories that will last a lifetime.
Kanha Jungle Lodge welcomes families with children and offer lots of fun and engaging educational programs to inspire young naturalists, anthropologists and conservationists of the future.
Have a full and action packed day with a Jungle Jeep Safari* and get the chance to see tigers in the wild! Start your day at 5am with a hot drink and cookies before journeying out on a dawn safari* where you will have the best possible chance to see tigers, leopards, wild cats and dogs as well as the rate and endangered swamp deer. During your safari you will stop off for a delicious fresh picnic style sunrise breakfast amongst the morning mist swirling around the trees before continuing on with your safari adventure. After a full morning of adventure you will return to the logge for a well earned rest and healthy lunch before departing on the afternoon safari for yet more opportunities to spot the incredible wildlife within the park. You’ll return to the lodge in time for evening tea and snacks. At night enjoy fresh, organic meals in the restaurant, social evenings around the campfire and astronomy lessons under the star studded skies.
* Jeep Safari’s must be booked well in advance and are priced at £75 for up to 4 people on an exclusive basis and includes entry to the national park, forest guide and resident naturalist. About The Area
Kanha Jungle Lodge is located just 1km from the Kanha National Park amongst the Maikal Hills in Central India's Madhya Pradesh State. Kanha is one of India’s largest national parks and famed for its’ tiger reserve as well as the preservation of the rare and endangered indigenous Swamp Deer. The park is is home to a wide variety on endangered plant and animal species, including tigers, leopards, wild dogs, wild cats, foxes and jackals as well as over 300 species of birds. Surrounded by Sal and bamboo forests and lush green meadows this area is breathtakingly beautiful.
Wth plenty of jungles to explore right on your doorstep and with walking safari’s and bird watching excursions included in your stay you’ll have plenty of opportunities to reconnect with nature and experience wildlife in the wild, here’s a few suggestions of nearby activities to inspire you:
Take advantage of the dawn and dusk guided jeep jungle safaris offered by the lodge. Each safari lasts for approximately 3-4 hours in an open jeep for panoramic unobstructed views (additional costs apply)

Meet the hosts
The creation of Tiger Resorts and Kanha Jungle Lodge started in 1987 when the late Pradeep Sankhala built and managed the lodge to provide an environmentally friendly experience that would help to conserve the natural habitat and protect tigers whilst giving guest exceptional service and a chance to explore the beautiful area. Pradeep was a professional tour operator as well as a respected conservationist and active leader in Wildlife conservation and ecotourism, lecturing at universities, colleges and schools around the world. Now the lodge is has been passed down to Pradeep’s son, Amit Sankhala. Amit has boundless enthusiasm and knowledge in eco-tourism principles and is committed to continuing the legacy of conservation and wildlife tourism.
Kanha Jungle Lodge is managed by husband and wife team, Tarun and Dimple. Tarun has over twenty years of experience in wildlife tourism and is passionate about nature. As well as making sure all your logistical needs are met Tarun will ensure that your stay at Kanha Jungle Lodge is packed full of lifelong memories and will happily accompany you on park safaris, sharing his vast knowledge of tigers and birds to give you a unique insight into the natural kingdom.
Dimple is a self-taught naturalist with a neverending thirst for learning just about everything. Pasionate about wildflowers and butterflies, Dimple became the first person to publish a book of Kanha's wildflowers and continues to document and research butterflies in the area. Dimple loves to share her knowledge with guests and her enthusiasm will have you capitvated, whether she is showing you constellations in the night skies, teaching you the delights of Indian cooking, taking you on a bird and butterfly stroll or helping you to relax your mind and body through yoga.
Jai is Dimple and Tarun's son and is an absolute pleasure to be around. Jai loves to talk to new people, play cricket and try out new games. Born and raised at the lodge Jai is fast becoming an expert in identifying animal warning calls and tracking and plant identification and is Kanha's real life Mowgli!

How To Get There

Air - The nearest airports are Raipur (4 hr drive), Jabalpur (5hr drive) or Nagpur (6 hr drive). All airports offer internal flight routes from Delhi and Mumbai.
Train - A cheaper and more exciting option to travel to Kanha Jungle Lodge would be to take an overnight train from Delhi or Jaipur to H.Nazammudin
