About The Area
Great wine isn’t the only thing that’s put Chianti on the map. Green hills covered with vineyards and olive groves span the horizon with small stone villages and parishes dotted across the landscape, Chianti is a uniquely beautiful place. In fact most of the pictures and postcards of Tuscany were actually taken in the Chianti area.
Only 30 km or so from Florence with it’s beautiful architecture, art and food that has made the city famous and a short drive from medieval and picturesque town of Certaldo il Paluffo is conveniently located to enjoy all the sights, tastes and wonder of Italy’s Tuscany Region.
There’s plenty of activities to enjoy on the farm itself with classes and excursions offered by il Paluffo. The area also offers lots of cultural, historical and nature based activities all within a short drive. Here’s our recommendations for things to do during your stay:
Learn to make authentic Italian pasta or take a cookery class with Liana and Luca Sample the finest Italian wines with tours to local wineries
Take advantage of the free bike hire available and explore the green hills of Chianti

Meet the hosts
The il Paluffo estate has been passed down through generations and is now taken care of by Liana and her husband, Luca. When Liana took over the property in 2005 it was in a poor condition having been used a warehouse and abandoned. Liana and Luca had a vision for the old manor though and lovingly restored the building using only traditional methods. During the renovations 17th and 18th Century Fresco Artworks were discovered - after careful restoration of these important artworks they now decorate the bedrooms, providing a slice of history in each room. It took 5 years of hard work and passion but now Liana, Luca and the il Paluffo estate welcomes you to enjoy this historical building and it’s green surroundings.
