Europe

About
If you’re looking to get away from it all and enjoy a holiday with a difference, Hunza Ecolodge offers quirky and unique accommodation, each offering complete seclusion and privacy, nestled within the trees on the 2 hectare organic farmland. Sleep amongst the stars in the treehouse, snuggle up in a cosy cabin, set your traveller spirit free in the boho wagon or go glam in the luxury bell tents. Each morning you will wake up to a delicious, organic breakfast of homemade bread, jams and fruit fresh from the farm to enjoy whilst you plan your day ahead with the maps and guidebooks provided in your accommodation.
Based on a working organic farm, in the small village of Bodolyabér, this holiday is perfect for nature lovers and families. Surrounded by forest and the scenic countryside of Southern Hungary, the farmland has been carefully designed with both private and communal areas and a variety of edible plants all of which can be handpicked by you and purchased with homemade produce made from the farms harvest to enjoy over mealtimes.
There's a real community spirit here with communal areas and pizza nights bringing everyone together for good food and friendly chats. And if you’re interested in permaculture principles and working on an organic farm, or just can’t bring yourself to leave Hunza, there’s also the option of volunteering in exchange for meals and homestay or tented accommodation.
Passionate about the environment and with heaps of local knowledge, your hosts, Milady & Roeland, will be able to help you find lots of eco-friendly activities suitable for all ages and interests to enjoy during your stay.

About The Area
Hunza Ecolodge is located in the small village of Bodolyabér on the edge of the forest in southern Hungary’s Baranya Region. Surrounded by trees and rolling hills this village is the perfect location to discover South Hungary’s diverse natural landscapes and historical roots whilst being within easy reach of the Villány wine region and city of Pécs.
The nearby city of Pécs, on the slopes of the Mecsek mountains, is arguably the artistic and cultural centre of Hungary with a rich history predating the Roman, Ottoman and Austrian-Hungarian empires. A wide selection of museums, theatres, bars and fine restaurants can all be enjoyed in this small city’s mediterranean atmosphere.
With forest walks and cycle paths to enjoy right from your doorstep, nearby lakes and optional farming volunteering during your stay we’re sure you’ll have plenty to keep you active but if you’re looking to explore the wider area here’s a few suggestions to get you started:
Explore the Mecsek Hills and take in the stunning 360 degree views across South Hungary
Indulge yourself in one of the many natural medicinal thermal springs and spas where you can relax, enjoy a massage, sauna and have a good chat with local people
Witness the wonder of the Milky Way at Zselic National Landscape Protection Area, a dark sky national park where you can even view the Triangulum Galaxy from the observatory
Spend a day in Pécs to discover Hungary’s culture, arts and historical sites as well as some of the country’s finest food and wine.

Meet the hosts
Hunza Ecolodge is run by Milady and Roeland with their two young children. Passionate about nature and the environment Milady and Roeland and fell in love under the apple tree at Hunza. Over the next few years they ran organic events catering and travelled before eventually moving from Belgium to Bodolyabér to live out their dream of raising a family close to nature in the place that means so much to them.
Milady is a calm, strong woman with a big heart for people, herbs and plants whilst Roeland is a keen gardener and chef. Their two children, Nándor and Huba, both love to dance and learn all about the animals and plant life at Hunza - they especially enjoy tasting all the plants in the garden!
