About The Area
Hostal Grau is located down one of Barcelona’s small streets filled with organic, vegan and fashionable restaurants in the Raval area of Barcelona City centre. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Barcelona Cathedral and La Pedrera Casa Batllo are all within walking distance and the famed Las Ramblas is only a 2 minute walk away.
There’s plenty to do and see in Barcelona and it’s easy to get about with an excellent public transport system and bike rental from Hostal Grau. Monica and her team are always keen to help tourists find little known gems around the city and can provide a community and nature tour of the city for guests looking to experience Barcelona as the locals do.
If you’re looking for more tips on what to see and do here are a few of our suggestions:
Explore Gaudi’s urban Park Güell and climb the monumental stairway to the Hall of Columns for an incredible view of the city
Release your inner child at the Tibidabo, with views that stretch to the Mediterranean Sea this is Barcelona’s highest fairground with ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds.
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hospital de Sant Pau for incredible Art Nouveau architecture, mazes of ironwork, stained glass and sculptures amongst orange tree groves.
Relax on the beach - Barcelona has plenty of them, all offering a different vibe.
Go on a day trip to Figueres, famed for being Salvado Dalí’s birth and final resting place. The Teatre-Museu Dalí is a must visit with plenty of quirky exhibits including the Mae West Room where all the furniture has been arranged to resemble her face.
Take advantage of Hostal Graus’ bike rental and explore the city on wheels. Meander through the streets and see the sights at your own place whilst being kind to the environment.

Meet the hosts
Hostal Grau is managed by Monica Vallejo who took over the family hotel in 2013 with the dream turning it into an environmentally friendly place to stay within in the city. Since taking on the management of the hotel Monica and her team have adopted environmentally conscious practices, furnishing the rooms with natural and restored furniture, organic products and eco-friendly design with careful consideration to guest comfort and relaxation.
But Monica doesn’t just stop at ensuring the hotel is green, she also uses the hotel to have a positive social impact that benefits local businesses and people in need, opening her doors twice a year to Barcelona’s homeless and providing mentoring to disadvantaged young people. Monica and her team all have a wealth of local knowledge of the city and are always happy to share some insider information, hints, tips and advice on exploring Barcelona.
