Himalayan Media Welfare Society - Gorubathan
IndiaAbout
If you’re looking to make a sustainable and life changing difference on your trip to the Himalayas you can help HMWS provide education to some of India’s poorest children. Working within the Media Society you will help children and families learn English and other skills in the two day centres. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the incredible scenery and if you choose to stay in the homestay accommodation you’ll also have the unique opportunity to experience the true culture and hospitality of the Himalayas with your host family. This is an extremely rewarding experience where you will meet new people, learn new skills and improve lives.
Volunteering during Tuesday - Saturday for 3 - 4 hours per day you will be working alongside children and young people within schools or day care centres to help the students understand conversational English, basic science and maths. During your placement you will be given plenty of opportunity to develop your own teaching style and interact with the community.
You will be provided with breakfast and dinner with your host family, giving you the opportunity to make lasting friendships and experience the true Himalayan way of life.
