Want to know what living in an ethnic Thai tribe is really like? These unique homestay experiences offer full cultural immersion with the remote Karen Hill tribal community, where you can learn about the culture and traditions of the tribe, experience authentic cultural activities, such as weaving, Hill tribe cooking and farming whilst staying in a traditional Thai bamboo stilt house. During your stay you also have the option to volunteer at the local school to help students develop their English skills. Accommodation at the Karen hill tribe is basic with limited electricity, no hot water and simple bedding however, your stay will be sure to make a lifelong impression with lasting friendships and have a positive impact on the whole community

Volunteering Opportunities
During your stay you can volunteer with HillTribe to teach English language skills within rural schools in Northern Thailand. Working 2-3 hours per day Monday - Friday you will have plenty of time to explore the area, relax and enjoy village life. There’s no requirements to volunteer just a patient and helpful attitude and the ability to commit for at least 1 month
Volunteering costs 1500 THB (approx £35) and covers transfers from Chang Mai City
All volunteering placements are subject to CV, Skype interview and references
About The Area

How To Get There
The homestay village is very remote and does not have any public transport - the only way you can get there is off-road so we suggest you take advantage of the transfer service provided by Thailand Hilltribe Holidays. A guide will collect you from Chang Mai City or Airport areas where you will start your journey to the village - the journey will take between 1-2 hours
