About The Area
Located in Peru’s Central Highlands, Huancayo is a culturally vibrant city, surrounded by small artisan towns. This is a popular destination for visitors due to its nightlife, hiking trails and nearby natural attractions. Despite the opportunities tourism provides many people still live in poverty with little or no access to clean water, sanitation and nutrition. In addition to these issues local healthcare providers face a range of challenges in delivering care to patients, from language barriers to distrust in modern medicines.
There are countless activities available nearby due to the urban location of this placement, visit the local markets or head to the bars after work to unwind or take one of the hiking trails to discover new surroundings. During your weekends you can visit some of the natural wonders of the region including glaciers and the Torre Torre geological formations.
FIMRC can provide a wide range of cultural immersion experiences and excursions and will provide detailed information on activities upon completion of your application.
