About The Area
Anconcito is a small coastal town approximately 2 hours from Ecuador’s largest city and 20 minutes south of the tourist area Salinas. The area has faced a recent influx of fishermen from other coastal regions, straining the infrastructure of the town. As a result of increased populations and overstretched government sponsored clinics, problems such as malnutrition, chronic disease, and teenage pregnancy are becoming more prevalent.
Located on the coast and only 15km south of popular tourist resort of Salinas, famed for it’s pristine beaches and surfing conditions. You will have plenty of time to spend evenings on the beach and nearby restaurants. During the weekends head out to the “Swing at the edge of the earth”, take a whale watching trip or head down to Salinas to party with the tourists.
FIMRC can provide a wide range of cultural immersion experiences and excursions and will provide detailed information on activities upon completion of your application.
