About The Area
Herb Nepal is based in the ethnic Tamang community of Ashapuri village in Bhaktapur, surrounded by green jungles and agricultural lands. This is a very peaceful and remote area with a handful of small settlements nearby. The picturesque Ashapuri Mahadev temple, 1 km away, is a spiritual place where many visit to worship the God Shiva or chant their mantras at the Buddhist shrines.
Ashapuri lies approximately 1 hour away from the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. Surrounded by mountains, this is a vibrant, spiritual and fascinating city with plenty to see and do. Discover the narrow streets and market shopping, learn yoga or head to one of the many meditation retreats to find tranquility, peace and connect with your inner self.
Nearby Bhaktapur has UNESCO World Heritage status for its rich culture, temples and artworks. With many religious and spiritual festivals held throughout the year visitors are sure to experience the true culture of Nepal
There’s plenty to see and experience at Herb Nepal, activities such as Nepali cookery lessons and creating Herbal produce as well as forest walks and temples are all at your doorstep and included in your stay. Here are some suggestions for activities outside the farm:

Meet the hosts
Herb Nepal is run by Benjamin & Simone who are passionate about permaculture and sustainable farming practices. Their ethos is to “Create a better world, a fairer world and a healthier world” through providing education and training for the local community whilst bringing visitors to the area closer to nature and reignite a passion for organic food to benefit their overall wellbeing. They work with local farmers to grow organic and sustainably grown herbs which are then used to produce natural herbal products.
As well as providing tourists with a unique experience in a peaceful rural community Herb Nepal also create a range of herbal products called Koseli (“Gift” in Nepali). The proceeds of the sale of these products goes directly back into the Herb Nepal Training Centre to benefit the local farming community and provide additional income for employees.
