About The Area
Ecofarm Asturias is located in the small village of Pandenes in the Asturias region of Northern Spain. Asturias may not be on everyone’s radar yet, but with its seasonal climate, green valleys, epic mountains and rustic charm, it’s hard to understand how the area hasn’t been flooded with rambling tourists keen to explore this beautiful location. Stunningly preserved with quaint villages and traditional ways of old, it has a unique and slow vibe that’s perfect for a relaxing getaway.
There’s plenty to do around the farm, guests can participate in creative activities, helping make fairy houses and furniture or helping out in the vegetable gardens and farm if they wish. The main attraction of this area is of course the beautiful scenery and nearby walks and trails however there are lots of nearby towns offering artisan markets, galleries and museums. Here are some ideas to keep you busy during your stay:
- Climb the snow capped mountains in Piquos de Europa National Park
- Try out canyoning or canoeing at Ría de Villavociosa
- Learn to surf at Rodiles, one of Europe's best surfing beaches
- Take a walk amongst the Peña Mayor mountain range
- Head to the coastal city of Gijon for it’s galleries, shops, bars and al fresco restaurants
- Soak up the culture in the historic town of Oviedo with its museums, art galleries and cultural events

Meet the hosts
Stephen and Liz left the UK with their daughter Grace in 2011, following their dream to live self sufficiently in this beautiful part of the world, together with their 2 dogs and cat who are all very friendly and calm. Although the animals are free to roam around the farm they do not enter into the rental places and Liz and Stephen are happy to contain them for any nervous guests.
Both Liz and Steve are creative people. Liz is passionate about cooking and loves to prepare home grown meals fresh from their organic farm and would be in her element when preparing world dishes for the guests, whilst Steve loves designing, creating and repairing structures and systems for the farm.
The family live on-site in the straw bale house and enjoy welcoming guests to share their land and local knowledge. Although they give guests their own space and privacy during their stay, Steve and Liz are always keen to have a chat about living off-grid, sharing ideas and experience of running their organic farm with like minded people.
