About The Area
The Netherlands is perhaps most known for the canals, flower markets and coffee shops of Amsterdam but there’s so much more to discover in this small country. From National Parks teeming with wildlife, historical castles and windmills to cities filled to the brim with museums, art galleries and nightlife.
Rotterdam is famed for its cutting edge architectural design, arts and culture scene and many nightclubs but the city also has plenty of open spaces and parks to take a break and relax in including the Museum Park, a small park surrounded by several museums, and Kralingse Wood, with its beautiful lake and plenty of wildlife amongst the trees. Whilst Rotterdam is home to modern architecture, the Delfshaven district of the city has retained much of its original pre-war character and is home to the only brewery in the city, where you can enjoy a freshly brewed Dutch beer right on the riverside. Easily navigated with excellent transportation options including water taxis, trams and a huge network of cycle paths to enjoy whilst exploring the city.
Culture Campsite is located in the historic Delfshaven area of Rotterdam, just a stone’s throw from the River Maas with a restaurant right next door and less than a ten minute journey to the many galleries, museums, shops and nightlife of the city centre. With insider knowledge of the hottest spots in the city and surrounding area your hosts at Culture Campsite will be happy to arrange guided tours, special overnight excursions or even design workshops all individually suited to your tastes and interests. We’re sure you’ll find plenty to do and see during your stay in Rotterdam but if you’re looking for some inspiration for your trip here’s a few suggestions to get you started:
Get adventurous and scale the heights of the Euromast for a birds eye view of the city where you can dine with a view and even try out abseiling down the 185 metre structure
Discover nature at Kralingse Wood and enjoy a picnic by the lake or if you’re looking to get active try Zuiderpark with its outdoor pools and sports clubs
Experience the underground music scene at Toffler, literally an underground techno and house all night club perfect for party lovers
Head out to nearby Gouda, only 30 minutes from Rotterdam, and try out the finest Dutch cheeses at the traditional Cheese Markets
