Camp among the stars and gently drift to sleep to the sound of the softly lapping waves on the shore. Clifden Eco Beach is one of the few campsites where you can actually pitch your tent amongst the Atlantic Coast sand dunes so it's perfect for wild camping lovers! With panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean and frequent appearances of bottle-nose dolphins you’ll have your own secluded private sandy beach giving you a memorable camping trip. The owners of the campsite encourage guests to participate in conservation activities so there's plenty of opportunities to get involved in local initiatives and help protect this beautiful and geologically important area.

Volunteering Opportunities
Guests are invited to help the owners with the Clean Coasts Organisation to keep the coastline litter free and participate in beach clean ups. This volunteering activity can be done at your own pace and schedule.
About The Area
Set within 8 hectares of the coastal Machair habitat in the West Connacht Coast Special Area of Conservation for bottlenose Dolphins, Clifden Eco Beach ideally located is just 10 minutes from Clifden town and 2 minutes from the small scenic village of Claddaghduff. The campsite sits between the the shores of the Wild Atlantic Way and the Twelve Bens Mountain Range so there’s plenty of beach and mountain trekking opportunities.
There’s plenty to do in the area, including beach combing, hiking, local tours or arts and crafts shopping in Clifden Town. Here are a few suggestions for tours and activities in the area:
Visit Omey Island (walkable in low tide) for sandy beaches, a holy well and ancient shell middens
Head to Connemara National Park to climb the Twelve Bens Mountains or discover the hiking trails
Take a cycling tour
Visit Kylemore Abbey
Take a day trip to Inishbofin for bird watching, seal colonies, white sand beaches and 16th Century castles
Take the kids to Killary Adventure Centre and Sheep Farm
Go kayaking in the sea inlets and bays

How To Get There
Driving
From Galway - Take Clifden Road/N 59,continue to follow N59 (50.3km), turn right at the Clifden Topaz fuel station onto the Westport road/N59 continue to follow N59 (3.5 km). Turn left onto the 'Wild Atlantic Way' North, 'Omey Island/Claddaghduff Road' L11O2, as signposted.
Continue to follow road (6.2km) and turn left onto Clifden ecoCampsite Road as sign posted.
Westport Town - Take Leenane/Letterfrack/Clifden Road/N59, continue to follow N59 (61.5 km).
Turn right onto the 'Wild Atlantic Way' North, 'Omey Island/Claddaghduff Road' L1102, as sign posted, continue to follow road (6.2km). Turn left onto Clifden ecoCampsite Road as sign posted.
Public Transport - Take the Citylink from Dublin Airport to Galway. Take the bus to Clifden. Collection from Clifden can be arranged on request
