About The Area
The camp is situated in an unique location in Southern Kenya, close to the border of Tanzania. Nestled amongst the Maasai reservations with Chyulu Hill National Park to the East, Tsavo National Park to the South East, and Amboseli to the West this area encompasses a total of 283,000 acres of pristine wilderness! Just about every African wild animal lives within the area (except gorilla and chimpanzee) against a stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro rising up from the plains.
Temperatures in the area generally reach highs of 35 degrees with nighttime lows of around 14 degrees. July is the coolest month to visit, whilst January and February offer the warmest days. There are 2 rainy seasons here, the short rains fall in November, and long rains from April - mid May, during this time the landscape is at its most attractive with peak elephant populations.
There are plenty of opportunities for adventure within the reserve with safari game drives, guided bushwalking and conservation activities all included with your accommodation you so won’t be stuck for things to do, however if you’re looking to experience it all here are a few suggestions of nearby activities:
Take a horseback safari - there’s no better experience than to ride amongst the zebras and giraffes
Learn Yoga in one of the world's most amazing settings
Extend your stay and volunteer at the local school or healthcare facility

Meet the hosts
Campi Ya Kanzi is owned and managed by Luca and Antonella. Luca first came to the Kuku Ranch as a young boy and was captivated by the area and community. 20 years later Luca returned with his now wife, Antonella, and together they set about working with the local community to build Campi Ya Kanzi with the Maasai people. Now Luca, Antonella and their 3 children live at the camp together with the Maasai who helped build the lodge.

How To Get There
Getting to the camp is easy! Once you arrive in Nairobi the camp staff will ensure the rest of your journey is stress free and taken care of.
Fly - The best way to get to Campi Ya Kanzi is to fly to Nairobi Airport and take an air-transfer to the camp. A hostess will meet you at Nairobi International Airport and help you with your onward flight. If you arrive late you will be taken to a local hotel for the night before embarking on the next stage of your journey. The 6-seat Cessna 206 will fly you from Nairobi to the camp airstrip (transfer flights subject to additional cost $400 per person each way).
Drive - If you don’t like the sound of the small plane it’s possible to take a 4x4 transfer provided by the camp (4x4 transfer subject to additional cost $600 each way + $75 per person Tsavo National Park entrance fee). The journey will take around 6 hours, covering approximately 200 miles and can take a maximum of 4 people
