About The Area

Nestled amongst beautiful rice paddies Floating Leaf is located in a small Balinese village between Sukawati and Pantai Purnama on the South Eastern coast of Bali.  This quiet area is away from the traffic, pollution and crowds found in the main tourist areas of Ubud and Kuta but still conveniently close to the beach, airport and main Bali attractions.  With beaches only 5 minutes away and Ubud only a 20 minute drive you’ll still be able to reach these popular areas easily whilst staying in a peaceful oasis and discovering the authentic side of Bali

There’s so much to see and do in Bali, with beautiful temples, cascading waterfalls, jungles and white sand beaches all on offer.  Here are a few of our suggestions: 

• Learn to surf at Karamas Beach - only 5 minutes from your accommodation

• Stretch out your tension with Yoga lessons in the retreat

• Relax on the the white sand beaches of Sukawatee and Sanur

• Head to Ubud for culture, arts, shopping and nightlife

• Visit the Tegalalang Rice Fields near Ubud for an awe-inspiring sight

• Take a trip to visit the nearby waterfalls and temples, their beauty will blow your mind! 

• Don’t miss the Balinese Dancing - a traditional, elegant dance with slow, delicate movements each dance tells a story of spirits and gods to the traditional and spirited Gamelan music

Meet the hosts

Floating Leaf is owned and managed by Mikaku and Maryam-Putu Dolivek.  Putu is from the Balinese Royal Family of Karangasem and was raised learning the traditional dances, healing arts and the culture of Bali.  Her deep connection to the island and its people enables her to provide meaningful insights into the culture and locations. Putu’s relations help ensure that each retreat takes advantage of religious and cultural current events such as ceremonies, palace visits, and other little known experiences not available on other tours.  Before coming to Floating Leave Putu owned and managed one of the most well respected spas in central California for seven years. 

Mikaku has been coming to Bali for over 25 years and loves to share the profound and unique culture of Bali. Before coming to Floating Leaf Mikaku was a professor of Art and Photography. He is an award-winning educator and photographer and loves to share his passion for Indonesia and its many hidden wonders. He has written numerous articles on Bali’s culture, art, mysticism, healers and more. Mikaku has recently been awarded “Travel Photographer of The Year”.

How To Get There

Fly - The Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar offers connecting flights from most Indonesian and South Asian airports and is only 30 kms from Floating Leaf.  From here you can easily get an inexpensive taxi or if you are driving: 

Drive - From Ngurah Rai International Airport take the new Bali Mandara Toll Road towards Sanur. In Sanur take the Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai North. 

Heading North on the Bypass from Sanur. You will pass McDonalds on your right and then KFC on your left. You will then see this sign and follow toward Bali Safari and Gianyar
